This was what I consider the first main assignment in my Drawing III class. In it, we were supposed to take a familiar object and abstract it, making a drawing with a clear focal point. I “chose” this camping fork thing. I had trouble with the assignment until I realized that we could basically draw whatever we wanted.
While it was difficult and boring at first, I think I do like the end product, it is darker than most of my drawings, possibly because we spent so much time on it. Still, it retains my marks and a sense of movement, which is perhaps more important to me than to most people.
